No immediate deadline for making CJRS claims for July
HMRC has emphasised that claims for grants under the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme (CJRS) for the period 1 to 31 July, do not have to be made by the end of August.
HMRC has received enquiries from some employers believing there is a 31 August deadline for making CJRS claims for the period 1 – 31 July.
HMRC wants to confirm that there are no imminent deadlines. The only deadlines imposed were around the closure of claims for the first version of CJRS, which was 31 July, and the start of the flexible furlough scheme (CJRS2) on 1 July.
The message from HMRC’s CJRS team is: “We can confirm there is no deadline at the moment. There will be drop dead date for CRJS claims up to the 31 October, but that has not yet been finalised.
“The only deadline that we have had for claims is for the period ending 30 June – so to end CJRS1 before we moved into flex.”
